Chapter 1

|Reality |

It's been three years since her twenty one birthday, and Cornelia still can't forget what happened. She won't trust him anymore, or any other boy except for one, as long as he still remembers me, she thought despondently and she looked at the window again. Still a long way to Berlin, she thought nervously this time. She honestly did not like this city because her ex-boyfriend lives there, but she smiled slightly, thinking that she would not be found where they were going.

Basketball club called 'Basketball-Spiel', located in Germany on the outside of Berlin city. Every year in June and July, the first four teams are formed and move on. The teams in rank 5 are eligible for further advancement of their basketball career. Each team consists of thirty players, of which only five can be on the field, the change is frequent. For the first seven weeks, is mobilizing and hard training sessions are held with the best of the selected trainers. Each team has its own name. The final matches for teams from rank 5 take place on the last Saturday in July. Then other teams of clubs from all over the city come to them, with whom they compete, of course, on the pitch.

Two years ago, five young and talented girls came to the club. The coaches were impressed and, due to their skills, they immediately got to the third rank. They did very well, and this year they are already on the 5th level of the teams and if they win, they will be in the top five of the league of the best clubs in Berlin. The team that includes Cornelia, her sister Alice, Helen, Natasha and Sara is called "Undefeated". There are seven girls each and twenty-three boys in their basketball group. The worst thing is that there are two other girls on their team who consider themselves the best at everything they do. Cornelia, who fell into conflict with one of them, everyone saw that it was not her who started, but the nosy Stephanie. Their gourdian does not see it that, and he said when Cornelia starts again, she will be fired from the club for good. Steph's parents are rich and they talked to the coach, and he got scared and that's what it is. Cornelia doesn't care about it and doesn't brag about who she really is.
...

She was so immersed in thought that tiredness closed her eyes and fell asleep quickly. Only after a few hours of driving, Cornelia woke up with a slight fright and rubbed her sleepy eyes yawning, turned her head to the right where her younger sister was sitting.

- and what are you looking at? - Cornelia replied to her.

- Nothing - Alice replied softly and turned completely towards her window.
Cornelia straightened up in her seat and stared aimlessly at the passing buildings of Berlin. She looked serious at the moment, wondering what to do. This is the last time I'm here, she thought as if she knew what was really going to come this season, and turned back to her sister, who was staring curiously at the window as if she had seen everything for the first time. After a few minutes they finally reached the parking, next to the club. Cornelia got out of the car
as first, and her mother stood next to her. She wanted to tell her everything that had happened four years ago when she looked at her mother like that for a moment. Olivia just smiled and quickly looked away from her younger daughter to Alice who had just come over to hug her mother.

- Then hold on, my darling, - Olivia replied and hugged Alice once more. Cornelia looked a little stunned, she didn't expect her mother to really move away from her that much. She was about to say something, but she didn't, just made an even gloomier face and walked over to her father, who was taking the suitcases out of the car.

- well, girls, here are your luggage - their father interjected, noticing that Cornelia had just come over, quickly whispering to his daughter - don't worry, your mother loves you too.

- yes, I have seen it for a long time - said Cornelia, hugging her father.

- Oh, you can do it, I'll talk to your mother again - he answered quickly, when his older daughter was standing next to him, and at the same moment his younger daughter came with his wife. Robert looked quickly at Olive so that she would also chat with Cornelia for a moment.

- How I don't like these goodbyes, - Alice replied, making a weary face, breaking the sudden silence.

- heads up, you will manage, as always - their father replied, still looking at Olive, handing the older daughter a bag with a suitcase, because Alice had already taken her things in her hand.

- Cornelia, - her mother said finally, she did not really want to talk to her daughter, she had something on her conscience, but she could not tell her
yet - you are an adult and a good girl - her mother replied without any enthusiasm, with a forced smile on her face, and putting a hand on her shoulder.

- thanks, but you really don't have to make an effort - Cornelia replied walking away from her.

- Cornelia! - Her mother shouted indignantly, watching her go, but she quickly looked at her husband, who apparently was not satisfied with his wife's behavior.

- Dad, I'm sorry, but I can't talk to my mother right now, - she said with a depressed expression.

- You will talk another day, go now, - their father added, smiling at her and Alice, who was standing next to her.

- Oh, I forgot to tell you earlier, you don't have to come to get us, - Cornelia replied at the last moment.

- Your decision, good luck, - their mother said quickly, and got back into the car, this time on the passenger side, not happy about it. Their father just shook his head and followed his wife into the driver's side of the car.

Alice waved at them as they drove out of the parking and Cornelia turned towards the front entrance of the club, she felt a pity in her heart that her mother would not say goodbye to her, wondering why she had acted this way. When her sister turned to her and walked forward with a smile, not caring about what had happened.

- Alice? - she asked quickly - did you notice that our parents didn't have wedding rings? Cornelia added slowly.

- no, - her sister replied, turning to her in slight surprise. - why?

- Nothing, no matter, - Cornelia replied seriously. She didn't want to pursue it now. She could see her sister looked pleased with something she didn't know. So they walked slowly towards the entrance to the club.

- Naomi?

- what's going on? - Her older sister replied quickly, thinking that she wanted to tell her something important.

- I have to do something else at the reception.

- okay, so I'm going to the room, see you later. She replied, moving forward. But she's hiding something, Cornelia thought as she walked through the door to the club's vestibule. Only she took the room key from reception.

The club was busy at this time, everyone was looking for their own room. Of course, the club is a very large building and there are many rooms as well as playing fields and training rooms.

They connected them into 5 houses, each house has its own floor, their house is on the 5th floor on the right side of the building. The girls' rooms are on the left side of the corridor and the boys are on the right side. Only on their floor they changed that boys have rooms on both sides, due to the fact that there are seven girls on their team.

The room had long been booked. It was rectangular of medium size, the walls were painted a light cream color, and the floor was completely covered with dark blue carpeting. Directly from the front door was a large window covered with a black venetian blind. Right by the window there was one wooden desk with a chair.
To the left of the door was a large oblong wardrobe against the wall. The bathroom was also on the left side of the room from the entrance. On the right outside the bathroom door there were five single beds with the same sheets.

They were nicely made, and each bed was covered with a different blanket.

At last she reached the room, turned the key in the lock, and pushed the door inwards with a quick push. She hurriedly picked up her things and crossed the threshold of the room. She went to her bed, which was the first one on the left side, and specially let all the luggage to the floor, lying with her back on the bed. She closed her eyes and plunged into thoughts again of a certain boy who had once disturbed her in her childhood. But she didn't want to forget about him, because deep down she still felt something for him, she wanted to cry. She couldn't bear it, what happened then, and then suddenly someone started knocking on the door, which suddenly opened. She quickly rose to a sitting position.

- Hey,- her sister replied, - I didn't mean to scare you, - she added, closing the door behind her.

- I wanted to ask you - she began not surely - why did you act so strange in the parking lot? - Cornelia finished, dropping her eyes to the floor. Alice took a deep breath and slowly walked over to her bed to sit next to her sister.

- because you see ... - she looked straight ahead, at the wardrobe and then again at Cornelia - I found out from my mother, just yesterday morning when we were leaving that ... that our parents ... would be divorcing ... - she said that already with tears in her eyes, immediately hugging her sister like a sister. - I'm sorry for acting like that, no ... I didn't want father to find out. - but the real thing her younger sister wanted to meet up with a new guy who is in their team, just she don’t want to say it to her sister. - I will say it in right time - she thought.

- I thought about it, it's okay, we can do it, but we don't tell anyone about it - Cornelia replied calmly, looking her sister in the eyes, who only nodded that she agreed with her. Cornelia felt the sadness herself. - There is another matter, - she added, looking at Alice.

- what? - her sister's face was completely filled with sadness.

- We have to finish this, it’s last year we're here … - She broke off as someone opened the door again and they both looked at the entrance.

- hello - Helen greeted them - what are you talking about? She added entering the room.

- Nothing special, - Cornelia replied quickly, smiling as if everything was fine.

- okay, if you want - said Helen and finally went to her bed. Finally, they unpacked, and the last two tenants, Nicola and Sara, came to the room.

In the evening after 6 p.m. they all went to the canteen to eat the long-awaited dinner and where they all chatted together.

Cornelia wanted to inform them of the changes, but said she will do it later.

The first six weeks were quite bearable, but at the beginning of week seven, when it was getting ready for the last week of the club, things started to happen. Starting already on Monday, it was twenty minutes past nine o'clock. She rolled over on her bed, quickly opened her eyes, and sat up. Strangely nobody was in the room, she thought she was about to continue to fall on the bed until she suddenly realized that all possible people are waiting for her to start training, or have even started, she thought irritated and started to dress in sweatpants like the storm. After five minutes with her hair undone, she ran out of the room. She didn't care how her hair was arranged, though, but who turned her alarm off. The only person who could do it was called Helen. She was furious how could she do this to me. She burst into the halls, even shouting over the coach, because something was explaining to her team about what was standing in the line. Everyone turned towards her, and even the coach.

- sorry for being late! Someone turned my alarm off, I'll beat that person, but that's after the training, - she replied quickly, cutting herself between Nicole and Steph, who even moved aside, and the teammates burst out laughing at her last answer.

- come on, silence - the coach replied, continuing to explain about new positions. Steph just couldn't stand it and started whispering silly to Cornela about her boyfriend. Nick, who was standing next to Steph, nudged her to be quiet. Of course, Steph did not give up until Cornelia, pissed off, screamed in front of her face "shut up" thinking that this is not her lucky day. She grimaced as soon as the trainer approached her and stood right in front of her.

- was it supposed to be for me? - He asked looking at her. She was standing upright and was about to say something to the coach, but ...

- No, - Nick replied instead.

- I'm listening? - and he turned to him, coming closer, and Cornelia was relieved, just wondering why he was helping her.

- it was for Steph, she always starts, and Cornelia gets hit for her ... - right, Cornelia thought quickly, until she smiled slightly at this fact, watching the scene.

- I...? - Steph interrupted indignantly.

- be quiet, Miss Andrews. - The coach quickly extinguished it.

- This year it was the same as why Cornelia should fly out. - Nick continued.

- Do you have evidence, Mr. Loken? He asked the question grimly.

- I have - he replied, and everyone looked at him, Nick smiled slightly at this satisfaction.

- maybe you will show them to us ... - added the coach quickly.

- I will not show you, but the director - until after his words everyone howled with joy.

- silence! - yelled the nervous coach - training is over for now - he replied with a gloomy face, disappearing quickly through the door to the corridor.

Most of the team quickly broke up too, and even Steph gave a run too.

Cornelia was impressed, why I didn't take him into our team, she thought as she approached Nick and his friends who were still in the training room with the rest of her friends.

- thanks for your intercession. - She said to him, swallowing quickly at the sight of him, and his gaze felt as if he had scanned her up and down and back until he stopped in front of her eyes. She could only smile, she did it because nothing else occurred to her that second.

- You're welcome, I want it to be fair, - he replied, still looking at her.

- That's nice of you, and do you really have the evidence? - Nicola, who was standing behind Cornelia, added, and she was relieved that he was not looking at her now. She knew it wouldn't change anything anyway, because she had never loved him. Although he is a good friend, she thought so looking at him.

- I only have photos, they can be useful, I'll take care of it, see you soon - he replied smiling at Cornelia and quickly walked away with his buddies towards the exit to the court outside.

- thanks again - Cornelia shouted after him this time, so he turned around and waved his hand, even winking at her.

- you can see that your boyfriend has competitions. - Helen replied, and Cornelia looked at her, curling her lips. - There's nothing, and besides, admit why you turned off my alarm! - she snapped at her, standing right in front of her.

- that you could get enough sleep - she lied straight in the eyes of her friend.

- definitely! I don't believe you anymore, remember that! we are going girls - Cornelia replied, then she turned on her feet and went to the other side of the room to the canteen, leaving Helen alone.

On the same day, in the evening, her boyfriend Matt, although she no longer considered him as her boyfriend. He started making scandals that he started arguing with Steph and that he did not tolerate how she talked to this Nick. Matt was quite a handsome and smart boy. She had thought so at first that she had finally found a normal guy, but now she wanted to leave him because of his strange behavior now.

A few days had passed, Cornelia said successfully, but after Friday's last training session they were completely exhausted. The coach mobilized them so much for the Saturday game that everyone only talked about it later as they went to the rooms. Cornelia said she was going to talk to Matt before her sister entered the room as the last one.
All Cornelia wanted to do was end this relationship with him that have no more sense, to be with someone who she really don’t want to be with and when she walked into his room he started yelling right away at her.

- give Steph a break and stop talking to this guy! - He shouted at the sight of her.

- Matt! I'm not starting, she is sticking to me and you won't tell me who to talk to and who not! - She also shouted at him.

- what ?!

- I told you! and you keep pretending you don't know anything! and you're pissing me off again! - She said shouting what she wanted. She was not happy with it, and who would want such a boyfriend, what I was into two years ago, she thought, pissed off, he come closer to her.

- Okay! it's good now! I'm going with my friends to a party - after a while she adds, looking at her stealthily - are you going too? - added fast to her.

- no thanks, you will be again …

- now do not start! It is my money! I can do what I want! - He grabbed her right hand, she was about to leave, but he leaned her against the wall and overpowered her hands. She was standing slightly apart, he put his right foot between her legs. So she had no chance against him, he thought pleased.

- let go of me! 'Cause I'll start screaming, - she snapped at him.

- I want you - he kissed her passionately but briefly because she kicked him between her legs with her right knee and pushed him away from her. - I do not want to know you! we are done! She was about to grab the handle, but he pushed it straight at the door until it bounced and fell to the floor.

- and how do I force you? - He smiled with a mocking smile coming up to her. She got scared of this, his behavior and started screaming, but he only hit her to shut up.

- I hate you! let hell consume you! - She wanted to get up, but he grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her farther into the room.

- Oh, my darling, why are you talking so badly - he replied, grabbing her face in his hands - look at me!

- it hurts, Matt! - The tears were streaming down her cheek, he released her.

- I'm sorry, look into my eyes - she wouldn't, lowered her head. - don't cry anymore, I'm sorry, I didn't want to!

- do not do that again. - She said. She hated him so much for wanting to end this relationship and never know him again. - you know what, but I want to go. - she added, but she had completely different thoughts in her head.

- will you come with me? - He asked excitedly, changing the tone of his voice right away.

- why not, I'll just go change, okay? - She said it, making a sweet smile at him. I'll get rid of him there, she thought nervously.

- Of course, - he answered quickly.

- I'll be ready in a moment, come get me. She replied with that stretched smile at him.

- then go, I'll be right there. - After his words she left his room.

She wanted to run out of the club, completely hated him. She really was sick of this. She took a few steps and was now in the room where her buddies were.

- what are we going to the cinema? - Helen asked.

- I'd like to, but I'm going to get rid of the goddamn Matt, - Cornelia replied.

- damn? - Her sister began.

- yes, because he deserves nothing, I have enough of him - she replied and went to the wardrobe, taking out a black dress and wanted to dress up.

This time Sarah walked closer to her and studied her face, brushing her hair from her forehead in the process.

- he hit you? - She said it rather than asked.

- I want to get rid of him, okay! - She replied, and the tears started running down her cheeks again. Even her sister got up to hug her.

- you do not have to go anywhere - Helen suddenly replied from the end of the room.

- that's right - Natasha added in the same way, getting up and coming up to them.

- when it comes we'll say that ... suddenly you started to let go, you know - Sarah added quickly.

- go to the bathroom and turn on the water, we'll tell you when to leave. Her sister replied and they pushed her into the bathroom.

She closed the door and, as her sister said, turned on the cold water tap. She began to wonder what she had to do right to end this. Maybe it wasn't the right way out, but she changed into that black dress and started doing makeup quickly. After a while she heard a man's voice and how her buddies explained to him that she suddenly felt bad, but at the same time Cornelia opened the bathroom door, looking at him and he at her.

- are you better? - he asked looking at her and added quickly - you look great, and these heels ...

- what about my heels? - She interrupted him quickly.

- they fit ... - he wanted to say something else, but he changed his mind, she measured him with her eyes.

- what did you want to say? - Cornelia insisted, but she looked at her sister.

- are you sure you can do it? - her sister cut in, but she just nodded as she started toward Matt.

- Nothing ...- he replied a little confused, looking at Cornelia and at the rest of the girls.

- are we going? - She replied with a not very satisfied face.

- is it all right? - He asked suddenly, looking at her, he wanted to figure out why she wanted to escape.

- Well, now, if you have to go, then go, - Sarah interjected and pushed them out the door, locking it.

- hey you saw it! - Matt yelled outside the door and stared at the girl he still considered his own girlfriend.

- I saw it, just take it easy and come on - as she spoke, she dragged him to the elevator, because she wanted to have this all behind.
